1. Interacting With Our Cats

Our cats must be treated gently and respectfully at all times.

Guests must not chase, grab, restrain or deliberately disturb the cats. If a cat moves away or does not wish to interact, please allow the cat to leave.

Cats should not be disturbed while sleeping, eating, drinking or using the litter area.

Guests must follow instructions from our team regarding interaction with individual cats.

2. Cat Food & Treats

Outside cat food and treats are strictly not permitted.

Only cat food and treats supplied by Cat Cafe Melbourne may be given to our cats.

Guests must not bring or give the cats any other food, treats, supplements or edible products.

Please follow staff instructions regarding feeding and the amount of treats that may be given to the cats.

3. Outside Food & Drinks

Outside food and drinks are not permitted inside Cat Cafe Melbourne.

Guests may only consume food or drinks supplied by Cat Cafe Melbourne while on the premises.

This rule helps us maintain a clean and safe environment for our cats and guests.

4. Children & Supervision

Children who are permitted to enter must remain under the close supervision of their accompanying parent or responsible adult at all times.

The supervising adult is responsible for ensuring that the child follows these House Rules, staff instructions and interacts appropriately with the cats.

Age exceptions: Any child admitted under an approved age exception must also comply with any additional conditions and waiver requirements communicated by Cat Cafe Melbourne.

5. Guest Behaviour

Guests must behave calmly and respectfully while inside the cafe.

Running, shouting, chasing cats, rough play or any behaviour that may frighten, stress or endanger the cats is not permitted.

Guests must also behave respectfully towards other customers and staff and must not intentionally disrupt another guest's experience.

6. Photography & Recording

Personal photography and video recording are permitted provided they do not disturb the cats, staff or other guests.

Flash photography must not be used around the cats.

Guests must respect the privacy of other customers and must not interfere with the safe operation of the cafe when taking photographs or recording.

7. Personal Belongings

Guests are responsible for their own personal belongings while visiting Cat Cafe Melbourne.

Our cats may climb on, touch or otherwise come into contact with clothing, bags and other belongings.

Valuable, fragile or potentially hazardous items should be kept securely stored and away from the cats.

8. Allergies & Health Considerations

Cat Cafe Melbourne is an environment containing multiple cats.

Guests are responsible for considering whether visiting the cafe is appropriate for them if they have cat allergies, animal sensitivities or other relevant health concerns.

9. Assumption of Risk

Guests acknowledge that they will be entering an environment containing live animals.

Although our cats are accustomed to interacting with people, animal behaviour can be unpredictable. Interaction with cats may involve inherent risks including scratches, bites or other accidental injuries.

There may also be ordinary risks associated with moving around an environment where cats and other guests are present, including trips or falls.

Guests agree to exercise reasonable care and follow these House Rules and all reasonable safety instructions provided by our team.

10. Injuries & Incidents

Please report incidents immediately.
Any bite, scratch, fall, injury or other incident occurring during a visit should be reported to a Cat Cafe Melbourne staff member immediately, even if it initially appears minor.

This allows our team to provide appropriate assistance and record the incident where necessary.

11. Restricted Areas

Guests must not enter staff-only, restricted or otherwise closed areas unless specifically permitted by a Cat Cafe Melbourne staff member.

Guests must follow signs, barriers and staff instructions regarding access to different areas of the premises.

12. Staff Instructions & Cat Welfare

The health, safety and welfare of our cats are a priority.

Guests must follow reasonable instructions provided by our team relating to cat interaction, feeding, hygiene, safety and behaviour.

Our team may ask a guest to stop interacting with a particular cat where we believe the cat needs space or where continued interaction may affect its welfare.

13. Right to Refuse or End Entry

Cat Cafe Melbourne reserves the right to refuse entry or require a guest to leave a session where the guest:

  • fails to comply with these House Rules or reasonable staff instructions;
  • behaves in a way that may frighten, stress, harm or endanger a cat;
  • behaves in a way that may compromise the safety or reasonable enjoyment of other guests or staff; or
  • otherwise creates an unsafe or significantly disruptive environment.
Where a guest is required to leave because of their failure to comply with these House Rules or reasonable staff instructions, the unused portion of the session will not ordinarily be eligible for a refund or credit, subject to applicable law.

14. Waiver & Guest Acknowledgement

By entering Cat Cafe Melbourne and participating in a session, guests acknowledge that they are entering an environment containing live animals and understand the inherent risks associated with interacting with cats.
